Gurgaon ( The City of Rising High lines and falling Neck lines)

Its apt to dedicate another post of this city of rising high lines and falling neck Lines.... It seems Gurgaon is coming up with another tower here to spoil the beauty of sky which is 14-15 floors and has 40000 Sqft / Floor, now i dont understand why do they have to build such huge structures in this dry land. I sometimes feel that the Haryana Gurgaon should ask all the builders to take part in compulsory plantation exercise which will increase the breathing space in this Desert.

wow what a city Gurgaon is ....people who have never been to this city have always heard great things about this place...Big structures...beautiful babes...classy cars...fancy dresses....but there is a bigger and darker side to this side, which doesnt have any form of public tranportation, couldnt believe what iam writing but thats the truth. This city has no Buses, no Auots and if you want to hire a cab, then they wouldnt take anything lesser than 400 bucks, and the only mode of transportation for a poor man is a rickshaw, who alos use the situation to charge exorbitant rates. Half the day there is no power, the situation is alarming even for water.There are traffic jams everywhere.
Then what does this city boasts of i think its the malls, cars and babes.
Iam reqally tired of the place. Every saturday and sunday its like a religion for people like me to go to Malls and spend some time watching people( understand yaar its Babes)...and after that completing the day with a movie or a nice dinner.
My suggestion to anyone who has an option to choose between cities not to choose this place for all its ills that it has got.

I miss XIMB

Next week i will be leaving to Gurgaon for my first Job.. It has been a boreing one month after two years of un contained fun at the campus....i was just wondering before the start of the vacations of how i will be spending my 2 months in home but luckily Cargill saved me and has asked me to join a month in advance as some new opportunities are shaping up, now gosh should reach there and see what the new opportunities are ...
Its really hard to stay in home( yeah had to spend most of my vacations in home itself as most of the friends are busy with their respective assignments). But this stay i realised what havoc TV is playing.....oooh my God dont understand how they produce so dirty serials, no iam not talking about the Hindi saaa bahu serials ( at least we can the models in these serials) iam speaking about pathetically horrible telugu serials. No one can understand, how they come up with such innovative stories which are very low in story part and loaded with high emotions. What i was surprised to find is that these serials ( mainly aired in Gemini TV) are having a loyal subscriber base, it was really wondersing to know that people are hoked to TV's from after noon 1.00 Pm to evening 11.00 Pm watching these serials continously...
But i dearly miss my XIMB....there were many reasons people have quoted why they missed the campus but i have my own ones....
1) I miss the late night coffee from the vending machines.
2) I miss Romanov Vodka ( Which i had only in XIMB campus) and being talli in campus, when friends would pick me up from places i dont know and throw me into my room. thanks to allt hose friends.
3) I miss the discussions that we( me, manav,maloy,shah,chandu,ram,etc..) had over tanushree datta's dressing in Aashiq banaye aapne movie...there was a lengthy debate about what tanushree was wearing in the song " Aashiq banaye aapne" yeah seriously.
4) I miss the late night assignments completions, after which we used to go and have early morning walk with friends( Where we discussed about the on going affairs in the campus)
5) I miss the JLT's, because i can sit near tree with my share of punch and look at around how people dance with different partners and how some unlucky guys, form snake patternsand they end up doing it in all the JLT's.
6) I miss the telugu movie downloads.....what ways GiKu tried to stope me and how i by passed him all the times.
7) I miss the bhakti updates from manav ( yes manav, who used to contribute very special quality ones )

Enough i guess...i have lot more but wouldnt be prudent to post everything here...

Quotas in premier institutes

I dont know where the politics will take country to, once there is a proposal to introduce reservations in private sectors then there is another proposal to introduce quotas in Indias premier institutes like IIT's and IIM's.
What are they upto ?? to break the bone with unimaginative proposals, the mere proposals are enough to send shivers in the economy. What are they going to achieve ? The politicians argue that they want to see allround development of the country with development trickling to the masses and under privilezed. But they are forgetting that they will not only dis allow the country its fair share of growth but it will also push the country into the dark ages like those seen during license raj times.
The logic for quota in premier institutes given by the so called messiah's of masses is that these institutes have done little for the backward classes, but i hope they realise that its from these institutions some of the intelligent minds have come out who have been aprt of constructing a new India the best example is Mr. Narayana Murthy who is an IIT passout. The work done by him to the country is equivalent to the advantage the quota's might have done to few lot.
I dont understand why the government and politicians dont understand the basic tenet that the more they try to control and impose on something the sooner it will lose its sheen and glory.
I strongly feel UPA govt is a looser in controlling the opportunistic politics and the way pawns are moved certainly indicate that they are game for a larger plan.

Hi all...as the XIMB results are released i can see the concern of students who are yet undecided whether to join XIMB or not ?
and have received a mail from a candidate asking about the lateral placement scenario at XIMB.
Here are some of the facts about XIMB and most important about the placemnts that took place this year and hope that if some guy comes across this post it will serve him useful to make a conscious decision.

Lateral placements:

Laterals were as usual at great demand at XIMB this time. Most of the IT companies were intersted in the laterals and the profiles that they were offering were starting from Business Analysts to Functional onsultants. The varied the experince of the candidate the more interested the companies for e.g. Mindtree has taken a person having 6+ years experience in running a Architecture firm of his own. Companies like Wipro, mind Tree, Patni, Accenture recruited mostly the lateral candidates.Not only IT companies but the companies that showed interest in laterals were big majors like E&Y, McKc, JP Morgan etc. The packages offered were also inlne to any top B-school that they have visited.

Freshers Placements:

The above post doesnt mean that it was all rosy only for laterals, if laterals were in demand by some companies then freshers were picked up like hotcakes by others. some of the highest number of fresher offers were given by companies like Infosys, Godrej, IBM etc..

The sad part was each exam was of 2 hours duration but alas i didnot read them even for an hour.

this is brief analysis of cost incurred by Sec-B, becos of kunal kapoors questions
Let us assume that we are paying every term 42000 Rs/- as fees.........let us assume that every term we are having 7 subjects on an average.....
42000/7 = 6000 Rs / subject / Term
we are having 20 classes , so for every class every individual student is paying 6000/20 = 300 Rs
Now let us take, that in each class 5 min is wasted out of 90 min class becos of Kunal's seemingly irrelevant doubts( I know this is very lesstime that iam assuming, but to be on safer side lets take it )
that means every student is losing (300*5)/90 = 16.67 Rs /- for simplicity in further calculations lets take this figure as 17 Rs
Each student is losing 17 Rs/class and the whole of Sec B is losing (17*60) = 1020 Rs/- for every class ( no/of students present per class is taken as 60 )
now we have 2 classes of every subject for each week , so every week we have 14 classes so whole weeks loss becos of Kunal is (1020*14) = Rs 14280/-for full month this comes to (14280*4) = Rs 57120/-
for the past 6 months the whole of Sec B lost (57120*6) = Rs 342720/-
This is the minimum amount that Kunal owes to the whole of Sec B .....so friends we can ask our SEC to colect this amount from him and spend it on our JLT's...............

Life without Chicken

Woke up today and went to mess to have the daily punishment i.e. B'fast , and when i saw then Upma there i really appreciated the mess cook for some time that how can he prepare such an upma which even remotely wouldnt resemble the item. Then decided that i cant have this torture today and went to other counter to ask for Bread-omlet and the response from bhaina there made me realise how dificult its going to be in coming days , he very coldly replied that " Saar No chicken and Eggs for some days - bird Flu".
Its not that i have chciken daily, last 3 months i didnot even touch it , there are various theories proppounded by my friends for my not touching chicken for some days. But when started again i realised what I missed all the days while controlling myself from those delicacies.
I really pity all those die hard chicken lovers and particularly persons like my friend Saby whose day doesnt go with out having chicken.
God save them and and give them enough courage to have veg leaves for some days. But its very hard even for persons like me to stay from chicken for long. I hope this issue is solved soon and i can chersih my fav Hyd Biryani when iam in Hyderabad.

Its a good development that most of the habitants of XIMB have started blogging, but its equally disturbing to see that many are resorting to cheap ways of critising others wrtings, come on guys lets respect some persons ways of describing things.
Blog is a personal space for anyone to write whats in his/her heart and it doesn't need that everyone should write about general gyaan in their blogs. No one is forcing you to visit their blogs, and if you are so interested in leaving comments then better write it with your name so that other person can honour them.
Does this mean that person who is writing can publish whatever he wants, then also my answer is NO, there is some personal decency and dignity that everyone should exhibit. All we bloggers should remember that blog is not a diary, and even in diary we wont write such stupid things. And if we are putting it in a domain like this, then we should expect people to read them and react to them, these reactions can be both positive or negative. Iam not erecting barricades for blogging, because even i dont know what all should i write and what all i shouldn't.
I feel that this problem is arising because of the target audience that we are dealing with, there are different sets of things that we would like to share with different segments of people.

Trip to Puri and Konark

It was a good trip, but all the while i was not feeling well, i think the cough wouldn't leave me so easily this time.
Me, Ram, Richa, and Seema went to Puri and Konark. Untill Puri we were accompanied by other group of 5 people ( Manu, Satyen, Praveen, Sujesh and Sudeshna). My main purpose of going to temple was to thank for the troble free marriage of sister that took place few days back in home.
I stayed away from water this time and saw how playful othres have become seeing the water and waves. My only work was sitting on beach and taking pics at various points of time.
But later for Konark trip, i was really interested :-) this is something close to my heart.
I tried to capture the beauty of Konark in my cam, but damm again the battery discharged at the right moment and had to settle with very less number of pics there.
Speaking about Konark more, really what a place, amazing architecture and work, i just cant believe that such work and application of science can take place in 1200 AD. The sculptures there were speaking some or the other story and if we carefully follow all the work around temple it reflects a man's life during various important phases.

Whats the Best compliment that u can ever receieve, i received one yesterday. Its not abt my physical appearance , If someone says that i look good, then i would have definitely said " plz immediately pay a visit to doctor and get ur Eyes checked". But yesterday someone said that iam really nice person, with respect to my behaviour, now this sounds so sweet, doesn't it ??
I was really flattered with this, but this comes with string of responsibility to be even more well behaved. There is a reason why i never used to try to top in any subject or exam, because that brings a responsibility to perform evern better and to stay there at top to excel, now that means lot more hard work from my part and i hate that. Iam basically a lazy person, happy with what ever happening around without any great effort, thats why i hate Finance , because Finance means lot of effort and thats why i like Marketing.

I got this book from cousin. Really dont understand how i missed such a gr8 book all these days. There are lots of things to learn from it, how to reason with people, how to accpet things that will struck us in the life. How not to mix business and life, how to fail. I was so impressed with this book that saw the God father movie immediately after completed reading the book. I was feeling like just read through and wished that it doesn't end . This is a must read book for every individual and if possible i will catch up with this again.

There are lots of unanswred questions in mind now, and i dont even want to try to find answers to those questions.But i surely can put what is floating in my mind, why am i studying ? why did i try to get a decent job in hand ?, is it all money , if its money then why haven't i tried to go to US?
I dont know answers to these questions probably even if i try i cant figure out the answers, but certainly these questions will stay in my mind for coming years. There is a purpose in everyone's life, some want to get a good job to marry early, so want a degree from a decent college to give kickstart to their careers, and some see this as a stepping stone for their ultimate business and independence.
Whats the goal i have to achieve? In lots of interviews i answered this by saying i want to see myself as a achiever and as a person with authority, but deep in my heart i knew that these are trained and roted answers and i genuinely dont know what is the goal i want to achieve.
Today iam seeing myself as a person without any sense of future vision, but that is what iam , iam a person with incremantal vision rather than one having long term visions. I had been modifying my goals according to my achievements and leaving the slate blank to write the next goal i have to achieve.
I dont expect anyone to see me as a person with high ambitions but definitely would wish that everyone recognises me as a sensible and sensitive person.

Now i know what it means to be without any work on hand, when my friends with work ex said that its very hard to sit idle in an organization without any work i just used to think what’s big deal in it, u get money and u don’t have to work then what the hell is problem with anyone to spend time. But oh god it’s hard not to work and sit idle, my brain has almost stopped working in a single day, and if I sit like this for rest 4 months then will just go numb.
But what should I do to spend time, friends here see lots of English movies but I don’t like seeing English movies , some read books and I cant read books for more than 2 hours. Then iam left with the only option that’s spending time by chatting with friends. I like speaking and the concept of me doing something without interacting drives me mad. Probably that’s the reason I was more driven to Sales and Marketing as my option, but seriously don’t know how many years will this interest of mine sustains.
PGP-2’s have started leaving to their homes, the pride in their face is visible and everyone is feeling like a soldier who has won a battle and heading back home to celebrate victory with his family members. These victorious fighters have left nothing to luck have and put in all their effort to take up jobs in the areas they wanted most.
Its so nice that the purpose we all came here to an MBA institute is served.

Euphoric: Placements at XIMB

Yes XIMB has achieved it this time and I hope that this goes on every year…..it’s so nice to see the whole batch placed. Every one of us has come here with aspirations and ambitions, and every one of us is going with the feel good factor in heart.
The sign out process is complete and now I can officially announce that I will be landing in CARGILL INDIA, most of the batch has got what they wanted and if they had to compromise on the profile then they are balanced with the pay checks.
Official figures are not out but the average salary is touching the 7 lakhs figure, its no small an achievement and only a B-school student can understand what it means to place all the 121 students with such a great average. Total no. of offers made is 206 and companies that visited campus are 53.
The companies list isn’t small and even the quality of companies that visited is great, Infosys again is the star recruiter with 22 offers, and then came TCS with 11 , Wipro-10, JP Morgan-6, Mind tree consulting-6, Patni-6, Accenture-3, SBI-4, Progeon-4, Genpact-8, E&Y-6, IBM-7. The craze was still with TCS and except 2, all the rest accepted TCS offers. Apart from this the other big names that visited campus are HP, Marico, Godrej, Cargill, Tata Motors, Tata Steel, WeP, WCC, UB, Pilkington, HSBC AMC.
There is a popular misconception that MBA students accept offer keeping only the pay in their mind but it has been disapproved in XIMB this time, friend of mine rejected HSBC AMC offer at 7.2 Lakhs to take Wipro which will be paying him 6 Lakhs, and not only that students rejected various other big offers to take TCS .
Even I had 2 offers in hand other being from “Maruti”. the coming two months will be real fun for all of us at XIMB and now at least I have decided to enjoy the most in this place where I had struggled all the days with assignments, quizzes, mid terms, end terms, presentations, term papers, group projects etc… It really gives a kick to chill at the place where you were made to work hard for 1.5 years.

In the last one month i have seen how helpful people can be . What's the objective of every individual ? ooh it would be over confidence if i start answering this question, because iam not still as wise enough to answer this , what i can answer is just about myself. My objective is to be happy and for this everyone around you should be happy so that you can also enjoy your happiness, its not the ego that has to be satisfied when you are behaving in a certain manner in situations but its the ability to understand what the person opposite to you wants.
In the last month i have seen the toughest days here, I was confident, i was tense then i was confused and again became confident, all these situations have bought the best from me. But apart from this, i have also seen that if you try to associate with the feelings and emotions of the other person then it will work wonders for your friendship or relationship.
Everyone who comes to an MBA institute has a dream of walking away with the best Job. For some the best job means the best in the campus, but for some others best job means the best they can get. In this process of job search we tend to be tense , but it is this tension that harms us much more than any other weakness. I might have said about this to my friends atleast a dozen times in the recent days. Its the confidence that creates all the difference, if you are confident that you are the best then it will bring the best from you, iam not saying something illogical but iam saying something that has been proved yesterday, a person with only 1 marketing paper cracked the interview for a marketing company in style. It will even, put to shame the so called best Marketing students on the campus, his answers were excellent and it can convince any panel to take him into the organisation. This is what confidence can make .
But there are few others who have Over confidence , last week i was speaking to friends and someone was saying about this person( guy/gal) who claims to be the best Marketing student on campus. I laughed, first on his/her statement, and then on that persons over confidence, i feel that everyone here is a best marketing student, if not then how can they sell themselves to the companies who are coming around. Its not the answers that you tell in class or the subject knowledge that you have make you the best, but its the ability to connect with the other person and speak in their language that makes you the best. I feel that one who is able to master the art of speaking simple and sensible is the person who can become best in any field.

The year 2005 was a decisive yaer for me, it has almost sealed my fate and decided what i will be doing in future. the year hadn't been too bad for me because of lot of reasons, but yes there were few months when i was totally lost. Lost in my wavering thoughts, lost in my unknown loneliness and took almost a term for me to come out of it and understand life properly, there was support from unexpected quarters and now when i look back at those days of the year i really feel silly and dont understand how i could be so confusing at times.
Year 2006 i will be joining my first job and will be looking at life and work, at different angle and here begins the new challenges for me to succeed and show my full my potential to the world.
Surprisingly there are no new year resolutions , i was asking a friend about her new year resolutions then i realised that i hadn't decided anything big this year. What i want is a simple and efficient life with good health.
Iam confident of making it, and making it in a style which will be unique to me and it wouldn't be flamboyant but it will definitely be different.

Friends have been asking me why iam not updating my blog..........its their greatness that they are reading stuff that i put in here, but frankly i would say that iam a poor writer, and one important task on hand is to improve my written communication.
There are few things that happened recently in my life which deserve to be updated in my blog, but i decided for everyone to get what they want in their lives then i will update the blog with all the series of events. What is important is associating with events that are taking place in others lives.
It might sound phiosophical but its true that life is made up of struggles and success following that struggle. There is happy ending most of the time and for someone its just a lucky turn of event and for others its a challenge that he has to face and achieve that success.
Yesterday i was speaking to a junior and dont know why i felt like saying but said the following words to him " Never ask a person who is successful in the first attempt about secret of success, he can tell u abt the reason he is successful, but he cant tell you all the reasons for which a person might fail"

Done with my Exams

Atlast my 5th term trauma has ended and should be frank that somehow i managed to write something in all the papers. Now i will be required to take two more subjects in my 6th term, but actually it doesn't much in the last term, because the interest in studies subdues in everyone after getting placed, and all the students study for the last term papers with least interest.
The placements excitement will be reaching heights in the coming 17 days. Hope everyone manages to get placed in their choosen fields with good jobs. In this context, i always remember the words that our placement coordinator Mrs. Savitha mohanty had to say , " the importance of this phase will make everyone of you anxious and in anxiousness you will start doing things like blaming, cribbing, spreading rumours etc. which are not remotely useful to your placements so each one of you try to contain your anxiety for some time".
Feel also like sharing a learning from my SDM class, there is one case where we were discussing about the employee motivation and in that case we had a good discussion about cribbing, who is the person who cribs? It's one who cant do anything with the issue on hand, one who lacks power and audacity to take things headon and above all its the one who is not capable enough. The person who is capable will be bold enough to tackle events with his skills and doesn't need to go all around telling about someone or something. Such persons can be easily dealt, just presence of mind and knowledge of how to control people will suffice as our weapons to take care of such category of people.
My own thoughts are a bit different here because i feel that everyone cribs at some point of time and cribbing is a way of letting out ones emotions. But whatever be the case this character of a human should be controlled to achieve success in life which is fraught with challenges.

Decoupling point

Yesterday me, Manav, Ram, deepak, Toolika and Aparna went for dinner at Venus Inn. The place is one of the best place in Bhubaneswar to get authentic south Indian food and never had it disappointed with any item that we ordered there. The discussion topic over the table was quite obviously the Placements, adn everyone of us were discussing our experiences and our thoughts about the process and the stakeholders involved in the process.
The discussion was going on with active participation then suddenly deepak says " Boss i have decided to apply what our SDM prof has said, iam decoupling people so that it doesn't affect my relationships." I couldn't comprehend what he was saying and asked him to explain what he meant, he goes on to say that Decoupking people mean, just dont allow our 1.5 years relationships in the process of placements and everyone should be seperated rfom the earlier behaviour and seen independently so that our prior relationship stays intact. The words were well put by him and the essence was great. Everyone of us should develop the capacity to decouple things in certain crucial moments so that our thought process is not affected by initial biases and also it dowsn't affect the future relationships.
People seem to be so foolish sometimes ( It also includes me) that they go on using wrong words against anyone and everyone. Many of us dont try to go to the root cause of issues and just use our tounge whenever we want. We should remember that Words once spoken cant be taken back. The simple ability to think before saying would save lot of embarrassing moments for all the persons involved. No one is perfect and everyone tries to take advantage in some or the other way, this doesn't mean that we bcome oblivious to our actions and deeds and just blame others for their acts. its always important that we set straight our house first and then go on to set the world right.

yeah iam talking about my 5th term end term exams...... 2 exams i.e. SDM and SCM are over and 3 more to go those are CB, ML and PITEO, well you might be confused what these 2-3 letter words are, but that is what is taught at MBA, how to save time by changing a simple thing into a complex looking.
No complains against choosing this career, this is what i loved, the 3 letter dream word MBA attached to my life for ever, the power that it gives in the place you wish to work, the acceptance you get in the society. All the things change, once you are into a good MBA school and also once you are out of a GOOD MBA school into a nice organisation. But enough luck should be there that you land up at the place which will enthuse you to work rather than earning millions of bucks to fill your pocket. I constantly suggest my good friend not to look at money at this point of carreer, its just a difference of couple of lakhs here, but once you go into the place you wish the ultimate money with satisfaction is bound to flow into your pockets.
Coming back to my exams, technically speaking these are not my final exams, because i still have to take 2 papers in the last term, but logically speaking these exams can be called last exams to be given seriously for many, yes iam not including myself into this category, not keeping in mind the last term exams but keeping in mind my ambitions of studying more. Dont feel like satisfied with this degree here, but that ,means iam excited to carry on with studies right now. if everything works out well then i think i will again go back to a college 4 years down the line. Iam making this plan keeping 2 things in mind, the first one is that i feel knowledge assimilation shouldn't be stopped and if you have drive then constant mid career knowledge upgradation will take you to newer heights. And the second reason for my plans is seeing my friends here in XIMB. Most of them are guys with 2-6 years of work experience and seeing the enthusuiasm they have towards studies, i feel like using the opportunity of my young age when compared to them, and do a small stint at college again after few yers.
Words aside, now have to read for my next two exams CB ( Consumer Behaviour) and ML ( Marketing Laws) which are scheduled for tommorow.

Its better if we listen to only what our mind says rather than going by others suggestions. i learnt it in a better way today.....
It has been a long day again and above it Apaharan movie has raised serious thoughts on the career options that iam taking. i find Apaharan a better business option, with good returns.
The movie is just above average type, the best part of the movie is the acting. All the persons excelled in their respective roles. The movie revolves around how an young man is involved into the business of Kidnapping. There are lots of points to be thought about in the movie, one is again about the political-criminal- Police nexus and how each party tries to outsmart others. The role of Bipasha cant be explained even by the director himself she doesn't have atleast a song to her credit in the movie.
Overall if someone asks me, then i will suggest him to go to this movie if he cant find a better one around.

Shame on people who play with Democracy

At first i titled the post as " Shame on Democracy" then thought of why should the whole democracy feel ashamed for acts of few people, democracy is far bigger than individuals and regions and countries.
Yesterday's news in websites, TV channels shook the whole of the country with the thought, of who are at the helm of affairs in this country. The MP( Member of Parliament), the politicians who have been choosen by the people of country, have stooped down to the lowest of levels anyone can imagine. 11 Mp's cutting across partylines have been caught on camera taking bribes for asking questions in the parliament. This is the worst of the act they can indulge in, the prime reasn why they are elected, is in the hope that these MP's would raise the issues pertained to the masses in the paliament. But taking money to ask those relevant issue is something too denigrating.
Todays events have again reminded the people of how bad the system is, and who all are ruling the same system in this country.
The best part of the whole episode is the immediate reaction that parties have given by suspending all the members from their respective Parties. Is this enough for the those parties? No the need of the hour is to start a long and enduing battle to clean up their systems from the persons with criminal and corrupt backgrounds. The entire political system needs to be over hauled and their is a urgent requirement of young blood in the system which will bring drastic changes. i wouldn't say that the young will not commit such heinous crimes, but definitely there is always hope that if one generation fails then there is another generation which has grown seeing the wrongful deeds will try to change the whole system.
The media of the country is really creating a difference in the way politicians are treated, and such exposes will bring out the true nature of any corrupt face, be it the Tehelka expose or be it the Coffin scam, the media was always there to enlighten people with the right facts. I hope this crusade against the system by few challenging individual's will continue.

Had not even dreamt that M.N.T ( My Consumer Behaviour Prof) would call me for giving the presentation of project. I was thinking that being from MAXIM he will be having an idea about me and will certainly wont call me, but todays incident shows that he doesn't even remember about me being a MAXIM member.
But thats was not bad show i guess, my group members were happy by the way i carried the prez. I was seeing the PPT for the first time in the class along with others, but luckily read half report in the class and it helped me very much.

The day started for me by getting up at 7.00 Am to prepare for the Company process, and oh god i was reading all systems related stuff , it was not bad indeed, but as usual i recognise all the good things very late.
Had attended the PPT of the company and was bowled to see that they were not loking at Marketing profile, but still was interested to attend the interview just to make myself prepared for the companies that will be on campus in the next one month. There came the list of peeple shortlisted for the interview, my name was not there in the shortlisted list, I thought that I had been rejected, but then placecom said that i was not even rejected, because they rejected only 4 persons with very less grades, later got to know that the company had misplaced my Resume. Had to take a printout of my resume and then re submit it again to attend interview.
wondering where I should have been sensitive, I didnt mention a incident that happened at the snacks time, my words hurt someone very badly and i fully take responsibility for my foolishness. Never had i felt so bad , there were lots of instanecs where my words had been taken wrongly but in almost all the cases i hadn't care damm about what people thought, but this time i had been fully at fault and couldnt associate with a persons situation. This is not the thing iam supposed to do, hurting a presons by my words , but later this individual had tole me, that it was not the words but the gravity of the situation that had brought tears. I realised something in this whole episode, that we can be joyful all the times but should be quick enough to understand the feelings and situations that people are going through.

Strategy Development

Today morning when i opened the mail box , i was surprised to see a mail from my Business Policy prof Mr. D.P.Dash. I was wondering why he had to write a mail when the course is over and the grades also released. But then, when i read his mail i was impressed to find that he was willing to share his experiences about his response to a mail that one of my alumnus has written to him.
The guy was asking him for suggestions on a particluar Strategy development excercise that he has to conduct for managers from India and China and also Top Management of J&J , the whole aim of this workshop was strategy debelopment for J&J. Our prof has offered us that whoever will mail any suggestion of how the workshop should be conducted, then he would share his suggestion for that particular issue.
Enthusiastically i have taken my pen and started writing and after sometime found out that strategy is not a easy topic to write and particularly for a fresher like me who still hasnt got the flavour of what organisational thinking will be like, but still i had tried a bit and gave a macro perspective to this .

The response that i have writtten to my prof goes like this :

Strategy is a long term direction of an organization. For developing strategy, an organization needs to be focusing on its core capabilities and competencies and also has to be sensitive to the future changes in the environment. In the particular workshop that J&J is planning to have, the structure that they could follow is:

Theme:
The theme of the whole exercise can revolve around developing J&J through leveraging the advantages from Indian and Chinese conditions, and how to use these two regions to propel further growth of J&J in the AP region.

1) Situational analysis :
Identify the present situation in Asia Pacific region in respect to J&J. This requires identifying strengths of J&J and its weakness. This exercise would allow it to know the way organization is there and how it’s surviving in the present scenario. The role of this exercise is that it will help us in the strategy formulation to consider about the strengths and weaknesses.
The best way to get these is through working with the employees. A simple exercise can be organized in the workshop, the employees present can be split into groups of 5-7 and each person is then asked to identify 5 strengths and 5 weaknesses of J&J, the whole group should arrive at a consolidated list of 5 strengths and 5 weakness. Then the whole strengths and weaknesses from all groups are pooled in and a set of J&J’s strengths and weaknesses can be identified.

2) Opportunities and Threats :

Then, the focus should shift to the opportunities in these regions. They can be in the form of business opportunities in the fields J&J is presently operating or any idea about future potential that is incubating in the mind of the employees.
The workshop should initially try to get as many ideas as possible then there can be possible deliberation on few interesting ideas. The logic is to reduce the number of options that J&J can look at so that it can place systems in place to achieve the desired results.
It is also required to do the analysis of all the threats that can be posed to the ideas that have been gathered, the threats can be inline like economic threats, political risks, capital risks etc.

3) Action plan:

After getting down to few limited options the workshop can focus its resources to get the action plan prepared. This has to be a effort of both the operational team of J&J and the top management because the support of top management is the important aspect in success of any strategy.

The above may look like a too macro view that i had presented, but this definitely is the most basic thing that any organisation should follow if it is into the strategy formulation mode.

Cost of collaboration

Today iam understanding whats the cost we will be paying if we do collaborative work.
For SDM as a group we have decided that we will be collecting a sample of 200 adn doing the required analysis, but after collecting data from 100 shops we got into a deal with 2 other groups and decided that all the three groups together will collect sample of 100 each and we will share the data so collected.
My group has sticked to the deal adn collected 100 more sample but we got only 160 sample from the rest 2 groups , one group has given sample of 100 and another got just 60 sample. Efectively net gain from this deal for my group is additional data from 60 shops.
But whats the cost that we are paying now, the prof has found out that we haev shared data and he is repeatedly saying that he didnot expect this from us, our logic of explaining him the reason why we have choosen to collaborate has fallen to deaf ears. The biggest mistake that we did here wsa not mentioning in the methodology our idea of sharing data, which the prof is considering as "intentional mistake".
The prof had ample logic to counter our arguments, he is saying our act as conscious decision of escaping work adn reducing work load. His logic is not wrong, every Prof has a certain ego adn trying to blatantly play around with him will yield such type of reactions only. Now he says that he will deduct marks for this misdoings of students and clearly mentioned not to take up a figure of 15 % penalty, the asking by the prof is a bit high because our intention is not to cheat upon him which ws visible by our work.
I have learnt a beautiful lesson here , if ever we get into such a situation the first thing we have to do is weigh the cost of taking such course of action. And also blindly believing that others will also stick to the agreement that we have made is wrong, unless system is not in place to check that persons are sticking to the agreement , everyone will try to evade work. I was very harsh in foring my group memebrs in collecting data, but the cold response that some other groups have given me was not right.

Days are getting tensed......

The days are getting exciting the atmosphere is getting tensed all are geared up for the final show down to begin i.e. comapnies coming down to campus. But should this atmosphere needs to bring the best or the worst out of people. people can get tensed about their situation but thats not the reason to argue with each and everyone on all trivial issues.
Some things everyone should remember is that everyone has his right to say some things, and whether to listen to it or not is your decision , but you should not argue on each and every thing that someone says , better pretend as if you are not listening to some issues that will save the face for everyone. And who knows the person who is saying may be having a genuinely valid point to tell.
The point of argument is most of the time baseless and purposeless, and one should learn to live with such things. Every one should understand that if they cant keep up with discussion then better dont be part to it rather than again and again raking some issue or the other. No one is perfect and no once is bound to say facts, but its our judgement to decide on which issue we can argue and which are the things which are good only to hear and forget.
I strongly feel and follow the policy of hearing and leaving about various issues. thats the reason why most of the time iam the second person to start the arguement or discussions.

Who will gain from volkswagens deal ??

Who will gain from volkswagen's deal which AP government is pushing very hard, is it Andhra Pradesh or is it Tamil Nadu ?
The details of the yet to be agreed upon deal say that the AP govt will be giving VW 500 acres of land in nellore district of AP, will setup infrastructure to bring power and water to this plant , will give VW 15 years of sales tax moratorium and also will supply power at the cost of 1rs per unit.
Earlier the plant was decided to be located in visakhapatnam but now citing Tsunami fears and recent floods in the city the location has been changed to Mambattu village which is 60 km from Chennai.
The cost that the AP state govt is going to incur in the whole process is not small, they will be providing at free of cost 500 acres of land, the cost of laying water pipelines and power lines to the plant will run into crores, and the price for the power that VW will be paying to the govt is negligible when compare to the price that AP state itslef pays to get the power from private power players which is around 2.50-4 Rs per unit, that effectively means Govt is offering about 60-75 % discount on power, this again translates to tens of crores as this is a power intesive plant.
But what's the return on this sort of investment for the AP state. The VW team is expecting to utilise the manpower from the adjacent Chennai city which means that there wont be noticeable increase in the number of people getting job in the plant who are from AP. Next, VW is planning to get most of the engineering equipment from small ancillary plants loated in Tamil nadu.
The main reason why AP govt is ready to allocate so much land and for giving other favours, was that this plant will bring lots of jobs, and it will aid in the development of region because of the growth in the supporting industries, but if VW plans to fulfll both the needs with resources available in Chennai then it wouldn't serve the purpose that AP govt is hoping.
The probable reason why AP govt is ready to accept such a deal is that it has become prestige issue for the ruling party to bring VW to the state after the scam in which one of its minister was accused of taking money. At last, its not whether the AP state of the TN state gains but its the India as a country which will gain from this and whole heartedly all the concerned people should support the cause of establishing this plant.

Placement's have started

It has been long that i posted something on my blog. Time is flying very fast and its not long before i will leave this place but right now its the time which any MBA grad will be waiting eagerly for, has started in our campus yes iam talking about placement time, last there were interviews for finance students and yesterday i went through the process in one of my favourite company.
i have only one wish in heart, that everyone should get into the area they are interested. But its hard, there are rumours about companies coming down, there are rumours about Information asymmetry, there are also rumours about placement committee misusing their power. No one knows whether any of these are true or not its just we listen to views of people and make out our own inferences.
Yesterday i sat in the process and for the frst time i cracked the GD process, its not like i couldn't speak but there were various resons fo which i failed in my summer GD's, but now iam determined and also confident that i can easily crack the GD , confidence makes all the difference morale. But i should say that yesterday i failed in the interview, i feel that was because of my under preparedness.
Now i need to revamp myself and my plans, and should get into the short term planning for the interviews and should learn how to glorify my past and my achievements which the companies would like to listen.
You see its very difficult to tell about yourself but as a marketing specialisation student i should learn how to present myself better than my competitors thats what we are taught how to make our product look the best when compared to the competitors.

Air Deccan is offering tickets at Rs 1/- + 249 (Airport taxes), Go Air the newly launched airline from Wadia group is offering tickets at Rs 500/- , spice jet is also into price war. Other entrants like King fisher from Vijay Mallya group is giving Business class traveling experience at Economy class rates. All of this shows the intense price war that has started between various Airline companies to grab that new customer.
Captain Gopinath of Air Deccan is regularly caught quoting “My target is to get 1% of people traveling by trains” which means effectively he is targeting at 1 % of 20 million odd train travelers per day.
The sudden action in Airline industry can be attributed to the success because of price initiatives that Air Deccan has taken. The dream of offering flying experience to the huge middle class has opened a great business opportunity to various companies. The sector has the backing of investor community also which has rallied behind the IPO of Jet airways, and waiting for IPO from Air Deccan which will be sometime next year.
But what is the current situation. There are 62 Domestic and 12 International airports in India, which are catering to more than 7 million travelers yearly, out of this more than 40% which translates into around 2.8 million passengers are handled by hubs at Delhi and Mumbai only. Number of Aircraft in India is 200 which is expected to increase to 650 by 2012. Airline companies are in the center of mega deals for buying aircraft from Boeing and Airbus. The present infrastructure in India looks not to support this type of activity. Is this wise decision by airline companies to expand at this rate when the present infrastructure available in the country can’t sustain their growth? .The competition is intense even in the recruitment of pilots, there is a shortage of 200-300 pilots in the industry now and there is rampant poaching of aircraft staff and pilots by new companies launching their services.
In the above circumstances what can Aviation ministry do so that this sector sees consistent growth that it has been witnessing since couple of years?
1) take immediate interest to develop airports, its not enough that the ministry concentrates on developing airports in some major cities because if this growth in Indian economy needs to touch all categories of people then its imperative that we need good airports In smaller cities(like Vizag, Bhubaneswar) also. What Government can do is invite companies to jointly develop these 2nd tier airports on B-O-T basis (Build Operate Transfer). There are many companies in India which have a feeling that they were late in getting into airline sector and who are feeling that the sector is already congested with too many players, these companies will be more than willing to get into airline sector in some or the other way to be part of this growth story, targeting these sort of companies to develop airports can be a good proposition to government. And also the present infrastructure boom in the country has given immense capabilities to infrastructure companies like L&T and IVRCL to execute such big orders with ease, these companies can partner with International airports that have knowledge related to development of airports.
2) Government should cater to the needs of the airline industry in terms of pilots and other support staff by setting up national level schools. Its very difficult for government to establish these schools immediately so they can come out with a proposal for developing such institutions in phased manner which will be a very good move in long term interest of the country.
3) Authorities should immediately check the poaching of pilots and support staff by new airlines because this is causing flight cancellations and uncompetitive environment for industry to work. These issues can have bad impact on the image of industry itself. This is also a very uncompetitive scenario of poaching a company’s pilot to ground their aircraft. Other reason why this needs to be checked is the safety issue, Pilots generally working on one type of aircraft are suddenly switching to other type of aircraft and running them with very less training due to paucity of time; this can be harmful to the passengers life.

India should start thinking big regarding Airline industry and Government needs to be prepared with both short term and long term measures to se that this sector develops at the pace it is happening now, this will lead to the overall development of India in all the geographical areas rather than limited few.

Special Diwali Dinner

My last diwali in XIMB comes to an end, the festival and lights and sound was grandly celebrated in the campus with much fervour, the sad part of students who have taken PITEO( Planning IT Enabled Oragnisation) is that they had to sit in 3 classes even on this grand festival.
The Puja started at 8.00 and was completed in 1/2 hr time and after the blessings of goddess Lakshmi all the studnets in the campus assembled infront of light to burst crackers, the festival was well organised by the SEC, which has again proved that they organise events related to all the regions with equal enthusiasm, stundets burst crackers of all decibels and colours and it was ensured that there were ample fire crackers for us to enjoy.
Now you people might be thinking what the title of the blog is and what i was writing in the initial paragraphs, but i need to mention the enthusiasm and joyous mood in the campus before the dinner time, so that i can relate how bad the dinner was. The dinner was charged at 40 rs/plate by the mess fellows, i think the contractor has to be shown some of the good restaurants in major cities where for 40 rs, how lavish food they servre.
I entered the mess at 10.20 and sat with Arun patro and Sapna, who were almost half done with their dinner, they looked like lost strangers in the Thar desert, who had no place to go and no food to eat so and so had to eat what ever was served on their platter. I looked at them and immdeiately understood that one more of my battles has started, the battle between my subconscious and conscious mind has begun. the sub conscious mind was saying again and again that this dinner will be good because the contractor has charged 40 Rs/plate , but the conscious mind was giving feelings that this is one more of the pathetic dinner that i will be having.
I dont know whether this one was not liked by me only, or the whole junta felt similarly, but eating this reminded me of the dinners i had at my home and how i used to be very choosy , this made me to realise how bad situation i was.
I somehow gathered courage and started with Dal-makhani which was looking like dal prepared with some spices, it made me feel as if iam trying to achieve the mission which was considered as impossible by my conscious mind. I choose to skip this item and went to have the next item which is some paneer, which only XIMB Mess can provide in the whole world, it neither had spices in it nor had proper flavour, yeah if something it had, then it is only oil which is poured lots. This again disappointed me , i was unable to undersrtand why the food was tasting sweet, then i decide that i had to go into a blind fold test so that i dont influence myself with the things iam seeing, this test gave answer to the most perplexed question tonight for me, the food was tasting sweet not because of the curries, but the rice itself is prepared a bit sweetish, who on earth will teach the cook that the rice he prepared is not a sweet dish , first of all the rice that these guys use is not basmati and then they make it sweet, i feel like taking them to african safari and throwing all of them in front of a african lions as their dinner.
At last i have decided that instead of eating such a stuff, its better to go empty stomach the whole night. Atleast the satisfaction of not eating a bad food will be there with me...

Google is changing the way technology is defined, its said as the best thing to happen to man after Internet. what's so great about this company which is valued in maret capitalisation terms at $100 bn, and is expected to cross market cap of $ 130-140 bn in this year. whats driving this company is sheer technological and innovative products and services that they are offering.
Google seach engine is the most popular website for almost any internet user. The comprehensive results that it produces and the speed with which it produces these results is what drives craze to this service.
The latest offerings from Google like Google mail , Google Talk and Google Earth are also becoming very popular. Google mail redefined the domains of mailing concept and it has made the mail storage as a backup storage unit for regular mail users ny providing storage capacities upto 1 gb, this has launched war among the other mail providers like Yahoo and MSN to increase the storage limit.
The other offering Google talk, is the unique concept where you can talk to your near and dear ones on the net using VOIP technology but where the data transfer is taking place through Packet switching concept which ensures better 2 way communication.
Another offering Gooogle Earth is changing the way we look at earth , the resolution with which it is showing the pictures of earth is unheard of and it is bring the satellite imagery to the homes of users.
The Strategy google seems to take in the near future can be outlined from the various launches, it may keep the Seach engine as a free service to the users as its the flagship offering from Google's Stable, and people will loose confidence if Google makes it pay and also it can lose its attractiveness. But google is generating the revenues from the advertisement side, companies have huge potential to target populations which will be accessing google globally, so postintg ad's on the site will help to increase their visibility many folds. Other thing that Google seems to be doing is when we enter a key word to search, the first few results its producing are the sites of the companies who might be paying some royalty to google.
Keeping mail box as a free service will be a better solution for Google, and here also it can use the revenues from the adertisements side to drive the purpose. Google earth should be made a paid site as its a very secure information that google is sharing with the public, which most of the countries perceive as important( Like President of India expressing his concerns about the capabilites that its having), if its made paid then it will help google in 2 terms , first is that it can have a way of having a cover of who all people are accessing the facility and tracking can be easy, and also this wil be a good revenue generation mechanism for google.
Google talk should be free for P2P voice transfer and it should simultaneously offer phone services as in Pc 2 Phone service, which will be paid service , the free P2P service will bring lot of visitors to the site and the paid service will get good revenues for the company.
The google's idea of concentratin on the R&D is atlast paying it ...... we hope to lot of free service companies becoming so huge, just on the power of number of customers it has.

The whole course of Neuro Marketing is quite challenging to the traditional Marketing techniques and principles..... whether its debating about the Marketing
Research methodolgies or contesting against the general USP funda with MSP , everything is shown in the new light with neurology and Brain giving the basis for
those new and radical beliefs.Prof Biju dominic has handled the course quite well except that persons like me who are into reading Kotler feel that quite few instances he is teling about seem to be
just one of examples and cannot be quite comfortable incorporated into the marketing realm.More than the course, what i liked in the classes was the real life perspective that he is giving about working in the corportes and how to suceed in organisations. The
concepts that he was discussing can be thouroghly debated.But the whole idea of relating mind to some remote subject called Neurology and deriving concepts from it is interesting, this definitely has lot of future in the field of
marketing for simple reason that the marketing has itself looks as if its saturated and no new areas are explored. The theories that we have been reading look to be
quite outdated, the concept of positioning which has attracted quite flak from industry bigwigs is one such. Is Marketing raelly at crosss roads the answer can is yes.
Its at cross roads because it didnot try to eveolve in recent times, what we are seeing is using of the same theories even in this internet adn digital age, the present
customer is lot more intelligent than what he has was earlier adn also he is armed with loads of data that he knows how to use fruitfully the need of marketing at this
juncture is to evolve itself adn i feel that the developing fields like neuro marketing will give all together new persepective to improve.The the study of responses to various stimuli will help marketers to understand the hidden psyches f consumers mind and unravellling the mysteries of mind can help us
in finding out the potential target segments properly and designing even the product based on these target segments.

whats happening these days here or there we are seeing natural disasters of the magnitude not heard before , the October 8th earth quake that had epicenter in the muzaffarbad town of Pakistan occupied Kashmir(POK) is the severest quake in last 120 years in the region.
The series of natural disasters that have been striking the indian subcontinent are repeatedly bringing a question into my mind " why is this region suddenly becoming target of natural disasters? " no logic can tell answer to this question because this is just coincidence that these have been occuring.
The predictions of Indian astrolgers for this year seems to be coming true, but we can give logic for the heigthened disasters in the world its the result of all the destruction that human race did to mother earth that its taking revenge on the mankind with its various activities.These should become a learning cases for human's and atleast now we should take care of earth from getting further damaged.

Iam back

after a long hiatus iam back on blogger, i dont know how the time has been flying, it has been 2 weeks that i posted on blogger, just today my 2 weeks of enjoyment are over and now completely over to the new phase for 3 full months phase that will change my whole shape of my life and which will determine whats going to be coming in my future that's placement season , the thing for which i had been waiting from the time i had joined XIMB.
Last week had been at home and it was so nice to go to ur place and talk to ur friends , play with ur neice, that was full weeks fun in home.
Xpressions had got over on 6-10-2005 and being personally associated with xpressions was very happy to see it over on positive note. Once again its proved that hardwork always gets paid, xpressions had been what it was just becasue of 2 persons Himanshu Nautiyal( General Secretary) and Abhijit Shah ( Treasurer) with ample support from othres like Maloy and saboo. The effort that they and all the XIMBIANS had put was something unexpected. I thought that around quarter of the batch will leave before the xpressions itself but my assumptions had been proved wrong, except few individuals everyone else stayed back and enjoyed the 4 days of event.

Is selling an Art or science ?
Art is related to things where in u use your senses more than your technique, its more related to getting your acts togethre according to situations and acting in the best
interest, Satisfaction is the end product of anything related to art.Art is a communication of our emotions and ideasScience is anything related to systematic method of completing things and results are the most important byproduct of any science related activity.Why can selling be said as Art ? Selling is the activity wherein a preson is involved with passion, enthusiasm these are the traits that we usually see in a person of
artistic bent, anything they do have passion they do it for themselves and dont care about the people around them, it takes their energy out but it gives them immense
satisfaction about doing something close to their heart. Simplicit is another important attribute that makes selling an art, dont make it complicated and the theory of
making selling simple are important functions. Generally we see that whenever we make the transaction simple to understand and complete, its quite to easy to
perform it , but is selling so simple? No its not for a person who sees it as a liablilty and yes who has passion associated with it.Why can selling be called a science ? the systematic and meticulous planning that goes in executing the call makes it apt for calling sales as science in present scenario,
the best example that i can give here is of KONE Elevators India Pvt. Ltd. where in i did my summer intrenship, they have devised a plan where in the company tried
to disassociate the selling process from a persons individual talent. The main problem of KONE is that being in a technical field it has to hire fresh engineers for selling
the elevators but the attrition rate of this group is very high and company had to constantly face problems in making the new members adjust to the industry behaviour
and also the company people were unable to estimate the number of orders this person will bring, then KONE came up with a solution wherein they have identified
certain traits that are required for a sales person and then in a research process over some period it was found that let the sales man be a new one or old if he has
some basic minimum traits ( as in Communication skills, presentation skills ) then if they follow certain procedure then that particular person will convert these
percentage of sales calls.The above is a new development in the selling system wherein companies are trying to cope up with various changes happening in the industry.I personally feel that
selling is more a art than a science, this strong a statement from a person who has zero knowledge of actual sales is really a bold statement, but in the process of
selling Xpressions to sponsors i have observed that if you have to make a successful sales man what you need to have is passion and commitment which will drive you
to put in that extra effort in convincing customers.

AIDS and its implications

Today's news papers read headlines as " Govt Bullish on HIV/AIDS vaccine" , this is very optimistic view but what is the youth of India doing to stop this.
AIDS which has surfaced in India in mid 80's, is the most deadliest disease that has struck India and has been eversince spreading like wild fire. The country realised the deadly impact that this will have on the society in 90's, and the whole system has been working towards controlling this disease. But the youth of this country is still not ready to discuss this topic in open. As a youth of this country i have never seen anywhere any type discussion about HIV/AIDS , this doesn't mean that discussing about this problem will solve this problem but its like getting oneself more aware towards this demon.
The economic implications of this disease are huge, India is riding high in all segments because of the Human Resources that are available in large numbers, but this core strength of India is threatened by this disease, HIV/AIDS is usuallly found in age groups of 20-40, this is the most vulnerable age group because of their living habits, and India is the Country which is growing big because of this age group. The age group of 20-40 is called the productive age group and trends have shown that whichever ountry has this age group in huge numbers is bound to prosper. the persons in this group generaelly work and are the bread winners of the families. Now if this age group is so rampantly infected with HIV/AIDS the core strenght of India will be lost, the person has to earn first to get himself treated to survive, and the health situation of that infected person will not allow him to do excess work, and no need of talking about the huge emotional crisis that will be created in the persons life.
What can we as responsible youth do regarding this ?
It wouldn't be enough that we sit and wait for the Govt to champion our cause, we should be more outgoing and willing to discuss this issue in larger groups and come up with solutions to stop this from infecting anymore. Solutions doesn't mean that we will be helping in drug discovery but we can always come up with nice ideaas t create awareness about this in all sections of society.

Everything happens for our good

yes everything happens for our good........lets take whatever coming upto us in this single perspective this will change our whole lives..
I dont think someone is able to spot change in me that took place due to various circumstances....the change is not visible to everyone except to ones too close to me......
I wasted the whole of Term 4 in the search for my priorities and i think at last by the end of the term i found my right priorities.........what i was doing was foolishness and in that foolishness i expected people to behave as i was behaving to them and it took whole 3 months for me to digest truth that everyone wouldn't be so nice as you are to them because they will be thinking about someone else...
What was the change that i was talking about, i think i became more serious about work and had been putting in lot of work in various activitites lately......
I say to my friends here that i dont like change but its what saved me now..........i changed from what i was 15 days ago...
these are minute changes but yes i changed, i never used to listen to classes but this term iam more serious about classes , maintaining class notes regularly and hope to continue this for whole term......I was not there in the Xpressions( this is annual fest in our college) sponsorship team but i dont know how i got into it, i had been putting into atleast some hours work on this mega event...........
This sort of concentration on various smaller things is making shift from my foolishness ........
these last 3 months taught a new lesson to me in life and this i wouldn't forget forever.....

The cyclone is coming , as per the latest reports it will strike Bhubaneswar by 6.00 Am tommorow morning, everyone is waiting keeping their fingers crossed. Orissa has pretty bad experiences with Cyclones, the super cyclone of 2000 has claimed more than 50000 lives and it has pushed Orissa yaers back in terms of development and its said that still now many of the villages that were struck have not received any type of support and there are villages which have lost electricity in the Super cyclone and still now the power lines have not been restored.
The picture is not as bad this time, at that time the winds were blowing at the rate of greater than 300 Km/hr, its estimated that now the winds are travelling at the rate of 150 km/hr, but as i was discussing in my previous posts, nothing can be said about the Nature and how it will behave with the human race.
Here evreyone is discussing about the impending danger that can loom the city in few hours, some are worried about the situation if the cyclone is very strong and some are concerned that this will have effect on their placements and there are SEC members on whose mind its playing what effect will this have on the upcoming XPRESSIONS ( college annual fest ).
I hope that this wont be a strong one, on my mind only one thing is there that it should not cause much damage to Oriisa and to the people, its hard to see a state which is doing so wellin economic terms being hit by another cyclone and again pushed back by few years adn all the efforts that had been put in to build this will be lost in a matter of hours.
I will keep posted about the situation through my blog.

great managers make successful businesses or vice versa ??

Are great businesses made by successful managers ??then why do so many ideas fail in the market, conceptualized by so called thought leaders. What i feel is that good businesess mould leaders into great leaders, ideas are important but they are not produced by a structured methodology they are obtained as serendipity or as sloution to a problem that a business can pose to the managers, here u can say that not everyone can solve those problems that are created by busniess and only few who can solve these problems are great managers, yes i wouldn't disagree with this point by the issue that i want to discuss is not this, but i would like to talk about what these managers do after succeeding in a particular organisation they normally at point of time shift their jobs and go into other challenginf positions in other organisations, did every successful manager succeed in those new jobs?? No, not everyone succeeds , there isn't statistics to show that the ratio of those who were successful in one job had produced good results in other jobs.
Then why do these managers given so high and exorbitant salaries in the market, i feel that HOPE is the reason why they are paid such salaries , the organisations hope that as they were successful in solving some problems or were capable of producing some good results, so do they will do it in the current job also.But why dont organisations give chance to some one new and see whether they can do the work or not ? but, organisations cant risk so much, its not the mistake of organisations that they are not able to believe in the new talent but its just plain probability that the chance of a new person getting successful is less and its not proved but a successful manager has proof attached to his profile that he had performed well in such situation so u(Organisation) can HOPE that it will perform well.
In this perspective lets discuss the recent hiring of talent by Anil Dhirubahi Ambani Enterprises(ADAE) at very aggresive rate, anil ambani from the day the split in the Reliance has been announced formally had been hiring managers for his new exterprise, but instead of concentrating on hiring it would be better for anil ambani to concentrate on how to develop new businessess or how to increase the revenues of his relaince telecom, its a big mistake to think that new persons who are coming in hordes will chnge the shape of business, but it will be prudent for him to groom and take up people from his organisation to contribute to the growth. Iam not saying that hiring talent from market outside is a wrong step, what i want to say is hiring so many people and the cost of hiring should be evaluated by the oganisations.
Narayanamurthy was not a great leader before he made Infosys true, but he had the idea and the right environment around him that made his so successful, does his success mean that he can make another Infosys, he cant Such great organisations cant be made by individuals and they help make indivisuals successfulWhat about Ratan Tata, he has transformed TATA from a red to black, where was TATA before he came, it was a big and able company that was posing lot of challenges and Ratan Tata was the preson who was in the centre of all those challenges and he pulled of a great thing by tackling them well, the chance for Ratan to succeed here was given by Tata.

heights of my Forgetfulness

what should i do with this new found problem of mine "forgetfullness" ... seems someday i will also forget who am i and why am in this world.....
The recent happenings with me will give a glimpse of how well iam mastering the art of forgetting. First it was mom's B'day that i forgot, i was eating at Monginis when sister calls and after speaking for 5 minutes asks me whether iam forgetting anything , for this i boldly answered that it can enevr happen that i forget things , then she made me realise my foolishness that that mom's B'day and i hadn't even called her to wish. Then i started to realise slowly that i had been becoming too forgetful now a days.
Then it was other friends B'days, forgetting about deadlines for submission of assignments etc.
there were many such incidents like these happening around me, to solve this problem i had been taking aid of postits and my newly obtained white board, wait wait, let me tell me how effectively i ahd been using them. I had written in post-its about my readings for Business policy exam and pasted it on the computre so that its infront of my eyes, but see my greatness i even forgot to see the post-its........the same is the case with the white board also , i cluttered with lot of things to do and deadlines for those things, but i dont know when is the last time i properly saw all of them at a time and examined how many of them i had completed....
Soon something needs to be done, if not i will also forget the purpose of me staying alive....

AAh 2 more papers are down...7 mroe to go in 4 days... the next exam is BE ( Business Ethics) in this Business part is taught les and Philosophical version of ethics is taught more, couldn't comprehend how the professor was trying to associate those concepts to the concepts of business, but ethics is etchics wjetjer it is life or business...
Gave two papers today, first was Business policy ( if given chance i would rename this course as Strategic policy,except putting word strategy infront of every simple word to make it look complex, nothing else was learnt or probably nothing else was taught) this was a 2 hours exam about a case ( on Rediff ) , had to write like anything, by the end of exam my hand was not in moment to move, this exam was completed at 4.00 Pm then ran back to room to have a look at another subject i.e. Project Management which was scheduled at 6.00 Pm, this again wsa a 2 hours paper and there was also lot of writing in this paper.....after completing the exam at 8.00 my hand was not in a position to sense any feeling, it became dumb with the unexpected load that it had to take again after so many days.
Then played couple of TT matches with Manav,Saby,ruchir..then Maloy calls at 9.10 and asks to join at CCD , i feel odd again and again writing about my evenings at CCD's this has become a routine for me to spend most of my free time at this place.i would demand a PPO (Pre Placement Offer) from CCD, by the time i went to CCD preeti and maloy were waiting there, i was joined by Manav, Saby, Jacob, Nivi, and Ruchir .
This time, first i had my favourite Cappuccino and then after some time ordered Espresso, nivi was asking me whether iam taking it to stay awake whole day but she doesn't know that i dont need to take anything to stay awake , iam spenid lots of sleepless nights now a days...
My sleep pattern is totally spoiled, and iam trying my level best to put it back on track , the best thing in recent days is that whenever iam getting chance iam sleeping pretty early, and waking up early (around 7.00 Am) , then having a cup of tea at a tea stall near park which is very near to campus.
Interesting happening at CCD is "the Hunter being Hunted", ealier i used to enjoy by teasing people and now everyone seems to be paying me back in my own terms. i had been blushing ?? yes but not for their teasing but definitely yes seeing everyone enjoy because of me, i dont have any problem people take my trip but it should be in limits and it shouldn't affect someone else emotions...
Now i should start my preparation for tommorows Business Ethics exam ...... Hope to complete the portion tonight itself but again iam expert at planning and and even a bigger expert at breaking all those plans.........

The race has begun....

Here comes end terms....6 days , 10 papers .. And the first wicket is down starting with ECT( Enterprise Computing technology).......I still dont understand what made me take this paper......i am happy that the rigour has ended and it ended in a positive note, atleast i could understand what was in paper adn surprisingly attempted 50 % of paper on my own.........I feel like having Booze in this happy moments, but looking at the things that are going to come in the week my enthu is going down...... Tommorow i have BP( Business Policy) and ProjM( Project Management) exam ,but iam not so afraid of these papaers, after writing so many exams have bcome confident to write any exam except those systems papers which is not my strength.
This term is more a global gyaan , there are case analysis in BP, BE( Business Ethics) , Prod M( Product Managemt), SM ( Service Marketing) , B2B ( Business to Business Marketing) papers and today in ECT paper also got a small case for analysis......its so less tiring to do case analysis, because everyone is at same line, just we are armed with the concepts to analyse the case and no need to mug up all the things to write on the paper....
Should see how the week goes, but as the sem comes to end the real task at hand is seen by everyone that is placement season that will start at the end of the term for which we need to prepare in the 5th( coming term) itlsef and balancing studies, and placement preparations is a daunting task.
This year i hope that placments will be great already there is one PPO from Starcom and 4 PPI's ( Pre placemt Interviews) from Marico (3) and Deutsche Bank(1) and many more PPO's and PPI's are in linr for others. Hope that everyone walks out of the campus withtheir dream jobs .
The enthusiasm of great placements is not wrong, seeing the Economy that is having its day and also the rains that lashed through out the country...Few weeks back when the arrival of south west monsoon was delayed, Newspapers jumped on the conclusion that this year will see drought in many places, and the food grain production will fall , but again the rains proved that these news paper fellows and weather forecastsing people are just pawns in its hands, and its the King to decide its own course, the rains came and it came in full strength and places which haven't seen rains for last 6 years have seen bountiful rains , yes iam mentioning about my own telangana which was under severe drought for past 6 years continously , which devastated the whole rural economic balance in the area.
There is no one to balme for these long spells of drought, but i would say that nature itself was angry on the Telangana, and it seems to have punished the area for 6 long years before showning some mercy on the people there , still there are many parts that are reeling under drought, but overall its said that the area recieved 25% more rainfall than last year , i hope that this continues for few more years and the lost happiness on the faces of farmers in these long drought hit areas come back.

Nature's fury !!!

Is this coincidence that there have been lot of natural disasters related to rain and wind in recent months or is it just my perception that there had been increase in them.
First it was Tsunami which struck more than 5 countries at a single stroke and the death toll would have put any atomic expert at surprise, the winds belw at the speed which Boeing flies in air. The destruction caused by Tsunami was so massive that whole world put in their differences aside and came to help the worst hit natios like srilanka etc. India set an example for world by dispatching a Ship and huge army of people to help Srilanka which was devastated by the killer Tsunami, even though the Tamil state of India has been vastly affected by the might of Tsunami, India choose to think of its neighbours and held a helping hand in the need of hour.
After Tsunami the biggest disaster i think is the Floods in mumbai, the only reason which makes me consider this as big is that it never rained klike that before ion Mumbai in the whole century itself, it rained 95' cm in a single day and the amount of loss that was caused by the rains was unexplainable, only Pharma companies are estimated to loss around 1000 crore rupees in the floods , by this we can expect the economic loss that was caused by this rain
the next one in line is Killer Hurricane "Katrina" that struck New Orleans city of US, more tahn 5 million people have been affected by one of the worst storms in US history and the economic loss of Katrina cant even be estimated , it is expected to have caused loss of the tune 100-200 Billion dollars.
Why are such things happening more in the recent years, i couldn't comprehend any reason for these natural furies, has the Nature gone suddenly angry with human kind, or is it the changes that have been happening geographically that are showng their affects lately.
There has been an article blaming US for tsunami and showing all sorts of reasons to make one believe that US rmy aws behind the tsunami and it aws result of one of the experiment wherein they have been trying to setof chain of events by playing with ature . but i wouldn't like to buy this story of the conspiracy theorists tand this seems to be poor work of some fanatics who are there to link every damm incident to US .
If its the case that nature is angry with human kind then i think it has every right to be , the way forests have been destroyed and the way natural resources have been consumed making the chain go awry, the nature might be taking it s revenge on us. If this is the revenge pattern then we should be expected to be ready to face more such disasters of even more giant scales rocking the world.
As iam writing this there is another natural disaster that is taking shape in Japan another typhoon that is showing its fury but in lesser way compared to Katrina that struck US.

Early morning Xpressions discussions

early morning at 5.00 Am 6 insomnaics who couldn't slep for various reasons were in the ground discussing Xpresions over coffee and biscuits , the panel of this discussion included me,manav,nautiyal,shahji,saboo, and our own maloy.
The discussion started from commenting on the name of college rock band thats formed ( Its called as USHMA now only the person who has conceptualised the name can tell its significance we reached a consesus that DECIBLEZ would have sounede better)
Maloy was at his witty best crtising saboo and his event management team and they are seriously arguing infront of Nautiyal ( General Secretaryof the college ) and maloy even gave a proposal that the event management team should be split and few hardworking guys should be given to him and he also added that saboo be given few pretty looking girls to work , because was very happy with this suggestion but he was not howing it on his face.
After about halfan hour into these talks we see another insomniac ariving at the stage , he himself calls to be the biggest insomniacof the college and named himsef DON(Devil of Night) , i dont know why he doesn't sleep, but now his sleep pattern seems to be totally altered.
We concluded our discussions at around 6.00 Am and i went to bed at around 7.00 Am, mean time even called home to say them good morning and dad was furious asking me why i hadn't been sleeping.

It was 11.10 Am that i woke up, after long time i had woken up so late now a days iam genrally waking up between 6-7 Am. After that its the regular stuff like completing SM assignment, reading PROF, etc.that i did whole day. At evening 6.45 Pm Nautiyal comes and says that there is a small gathering of Alumni in the college MDC and our work is to track these Alumni and get some leads or if possible confirmation for Xpression Sponsorships.
The turnout was low, even though 25 Alumni confirmed that they will be coming down to campus only 10 persons turned up for the occassiont when it started at 8.45 Pm. Saboo called the plan FLOP , but i vehemently disagreed with his wordings and i would say that this not a movie or a event to be a hit or a flop, but this is a experiment which can be either a success or a failure and this particular event is a failure for which SEC has to pay from its pockets. Why iam calling this a failure is that turnout was low and the persons who have come couldn't confirm something for xpressions, but the positive note is that there were some good leads generated from them, now our hope is that even if we can convert one lead then i will term this experiment a success.
Oooh i forgot to mention one more thing, in the gathering i ,deepak and chandu had few rounds and we were the ones who were able to get maximum leads also, see Drinking helps sometmes.

I missed his class

Iam very sad , i missed Mr. Pandya's PROF ( Practices of finance ) class, my whole purpose of taking the class has not been served and in the last two classes which i couldn't attend becos of my ERP work it seems he was at his best at two things :
1) Cracking Adult jokes in class
2) Discussing abt women and their strengths

I was struck in this ERP work since yesterday night...........today Ram helped out in completing the ERP work, i will tell u how good iam at ERP, let me describe 2 situations while doing ERP chapters...
1) I created sales organisation and happily assigned that sales organisation to manav's company , and for two hours broke my head because the company simply doesn't accept any sales process in my company, then i found out my intelligence
2) There's no stock in the inventory, and i had been trying hard to lift stock when the inventory is shown as Zero, again i wasted lot of time to figure out this and then increased the stock .

Iam waiting this sem to end and will be happy to see this course to complete .......

Went to CCD again in the evening this is 5th time in row..........i shld be given most visited customer to CCD award....
Had my Fav drink Cappuccino again, the machine was spoiled and they( CCD) didn't had any hot coffees for 3 days
But this gave chance to try remaining drinks there , strawberry drink seems to be good, But Espresso wins hands down if u are feling sleepy and have to beat sleep........

Seems long night is waiting for me again, because have to complete the ERP stuff today, then have a MAXIM Briefing for new project that maxim has got from Gugnani tyres , then should update BP stuff on my webpage , then should complete SM individual assignment, after that there is Product Management Project to be completed..............oh my goodness i will be doing these many things today night....... Let me see , how many i can complete.......

Today morning woke up at 5.30 Am.....then read Sm for sometime and made up my mind that i will go to ECT class ( Enterprise Computing Technology ) , from many days i had been cursing myself for taking few papers and ECT is one among them, i was unhappy ebcause i wouldn't use anything that is learnt in ECT, neither me anyone in the class wwill be using anything related to ECT in their lives.......
Me and Manav went to ECT class9 Surprising thing is manav is attending the class after contnously bunking 8 ECT classes in row ) , both of us were fresh in the class( may be because of yesterday nights party that we had)and both of us seriously thought of listening to the class, the class started and the prof started teaching about network security, i thought that he will get into the managerial aspects of the things learnt but alas he went on explaning about various network security mechanisms etc..i was feeling like i was sitting in the Enginneering class again........What releance does the teachings in the class have for an MBA i dont know then i decided this is not what i wnted to learn in a Management school, i pulled a paer from the new ECT book ( the book is new in the last class also because i might have missed half the classes and in the rest half of classes i was wondering why i took the course.....) and thought that i will write a article for my Blog....... then started my thought process what to write first i decided that i will write a topic on beauty and i titled the article as " Innner beauty or External beauty " , but then i couldn't even write opening sentences for this , probably because this is not my area of strength. then I decided that i will write something about Democaracy in India, and titled the article as " Democracy in India " and started writing , i went on writing and after writing a page i realised that i had been all along writing about " Corruption in India" then i promptly changed the word democracy to corruption in title of the aticle and aligned my thought procecces to write about corruption in India, the article is so important to any citizen of my country that i dont want to continue it in this post but i would like to dedicate a new post to that.......

It has been almost 5 weeks that i had drinks, and as previously mentioned, that i promised to manav that i wont drink atleast for a month, i had once again successfully kept my promise...today also wouldn't have drunk, if it was not manav who said we have to go out........... The venue was Rodeo bar of Pal heights , after we reached the place it seems like the place is fillied by Ximbians again, there were RM guys chilling out ......
Started with a large Whisky and manav has taken KF Large, the ambience of the place is so good, that we have started discussing very deeply about our issues and day to day happenings.......Then after First peg, sachin joined us, this was coincidence that he also came there, the discussion between us revolved arond the summer's experiences, with again sachin in full form in saying his bit( Sachin has a great knack on speaking on any topic , it doesn't matter whether he knows abt it or not)..........I wasbusy drinking and had around 9 regulars, that was too much and in the mean time received a call from Vaibhav informing me about the just strting MAXIM meet, after finishing in Pal heights , we reached XIMB straight, i went to meeting and manav sleptoff.....I left the meeting early and came down to front of mess , stayed there for some time and then went back to my roo at around 00.30 ( i think the time to be 00.30 as far as i remember, but remember i was drunk a bit)...........
Two surprising things happened the next morning, thats now..............
1) I woke up at 5.30 Am, and it was like iam not even feeling sleepy inspite of the fact that the previous night i slept only for 3.5 hours ( From 11.30 Pm to 3.00 Am) ..........
2) I dont have hangover effect, i dont even feel that yesterday night i had drinks..i couldn't believe it, no hangover after those many pegs, iam thinking about the reason were the drinks so well prepared there that i dont feel anything the next day morning?? or is it that my capacity to take has increased??

Any how now at 6.15 Am, iam writing the blog where in i have a quiz to give at 2.30 Pm today and have continuous classes upto then. chalo will catchup later...............

Now, i can teach Japanese what JIT means !!!!

I didn't knew that JIT(Just in Time) will become so important in my life and i think now i can teach even japanese what JIT means and how it can be implemented successfully...... Its like the norm of my every project to follow JIT standards...
First let me explain JIT in detail for persons who dont know what this concept is, its a methodology by which one can increase their efficiency by keeping very less inventory and doing things as and when they are needed
Now let me tell how JIT is becoming a vital concept in my life now-a-days...untill now i have completed 5 presentations/projects, and in all the projects i have applied JIT very successfully, first of all not doing work untill the deadline comes near my ear and says " Dear only a day left and u need to submit the project report" its like girlfriend coming to her lover and sayng " Darling, only a day left for my B'day, and i hope my diamond necklace is ready by now" ...then i need to message some harsh messages to my group members about the status of the project, sometimes iam becoming very harsh that may be because putting my head in all the projecta and taking resposnibility ( SSSHHH... i shld say thrown with the responsibility) , when i ask them about the status of the project work they sometimes keep their face as if i have asked them to give their whole kingdom to me, but yeah i am asking in somewhat similar way only, but what can i do i need to be hard sometimes ( OOOOUUUCCHHH dont take it in wrong sense friends, its hard interms of words only).....
Then the nightout's completing the project and making all the group memebrs also lose their sleep..... and then having coffee at 4.00Am after being completely exhausted with the work.......... Early morning slep in the class room, actually should mention about my days of term-2,those were bright days in my life , daily i used to sleep at 3.00 and only one work on hand , speaking outside the mess, i enjoyed those days of mine a lot...but not everyday will be like those, i understood that and iam adjusted to these days......then sleping in the class almost every class that too daily in my favourite position( and nivi has called that as "Doggy style")

Coming back to JIT , i was saying about how i have become expert in it.............just let me quote only example of the efficiency with which i applied this................i handled the B2B work to two of group memebrs and asked them to take responsibility, but somehow the number of people survyed wsa one untill 28/08/05 - Sunday 4.00 Pm...... where in i thought of atleast targetting 15-20 customers for the survey.then what follwed were some powerful offliners to my group memebrs, which made them understand that i ws really upset with the progress of work that happened, then saby and manav went and med another customeron sunday at 5.00, then asked Kartikeya to work on the PPT and he sent me the PPt by 12.30 Am of 29/08/05 , then saby, preeti, and manav sat on that edited the PPT upto 3.30 Am , after that mailed it to Kunal kapoor who worked on the PPt from 7.00 Am to 8.30 Am , then all of us went to PROJECT MANAGEMENT class , immediately after class myself and saby went out to meet customers and in the mean time , manav , kunal and kartik started to make the PPT attractive and informative, while Preti wsa busy attending her class.........
From 11.00 Am to 1.45 pm , i went to 5 custoemrs and was successful in meeting 3 of them and the other group had completed the PPt and by that preeti came abck from her class and she had a look the PPT that has been prepared and checked it for errors........ By 2.00 Pm i,and saby were back in campus with the data in our hands.we had lunch and then me and saby started seperately to work on few slides to be added in the PPt and i felt that these were very informative that we came at that last moment and gave beauty to our presentation ........By 2.45 Pm we completed our work and called the whole group to mana's room where from 2.45 Pm to 3.30 Pm we added the sldies that were prepared by me and saby and fine tuned the whole presentation ....after that went to class at 3.45 Pm..can anyone beat me in this ........ and i felt that ours was one of the most effective presentation in the class, because it wsa short , sweet and lot of strategy included, and only our group had got maximum audience questions from the class ( Infact ours is the only group that got questions from the class) and also i should mention the pesentation was very handled by preeti and saby ........
This is how nowadays iam going..............hope i become better atleast next term ( Hello..........iam not saying i should become better at JIT, but should work on the projects from before itself)

Yuppieeee i got a new white boardin my room

Finally i got what i wanted, last week i had got a new white board fixed in my room..the college was fixing it in Nautiyal's ( General - Secretary of our college) room, i asked the guy to fix sucha abaord in my room also, that guy saw nautiyal an said " If u say then i will put it, but come and tell to hostel warden" , that wsa a scene that u should see , i felt that nauti was in a dilema what to do ? whether to go and tell by using his power or shldn't he ask....but somehow he went and asked them to put a similar board in my room also , the saving grace is i said to nauti to tell them that i will pay them the cost of the board...........but anyhow i got a white board and that too for free.....................................
Yesterday i inaugrated my board witha new Cello marker that i got from the market .....the first thing written is as usual " Om Sri Sai Ram" .........after that shld see the writings on the baord from my friends they from congratulatory messages to encouragement for me to love......... " Conrats for new board" , " Love me for a reason , Let the reason be Love" but i feel this quote should be rephrased to " Love me for a reason, Let the reason be me".......
Earlier in the day my only job was sleeping..but in the evening i got irrirated seeing the progress of the B2B project and was irritated the whole day..............somehow i felt iam not doing projects as good as i used to complete that may be because of more things happening under me, but then i think thats what i should be trained to , to handle maximum work and that with little irriatation and lot of patience.......i should improve on this aspect and also shld try to take only one project in hand and try to do that better ...
In the evening went to CCD ( Cafe Coffee Day ) with maloy and shiv, this was after 12 days that iam again going to CCD, and the thing me and maloy did in CCD was psyching out the new staff at CCD , i asked the person to serve a simple question " I think u are new to this , aren't u ??" and he got embrassed with my question , this wsa in response to him saying that they serve most of the things very hot.and i explained him that leave HOT , most of their things are not even WARM, i once made them exchange cappucciono 3 times and still they served me warm but not hot , and their reason was that it wont be served hot , i seriously didn't knew this that cappuccino is served warm , should validate this statement from some other place...
After my CCD trip just came back to campus and see the message from Aparna( Appu) asking me to join her, kusuma, nishant,simi, and pavana to Smokin n Joes, PIZZA outlet.........except pavana the rest of us went there and spnt untill 10.00 pm there itself.then came back and went straight to MPH( Multi Purpose Hall) in the hostel to watch 4th test match between Australia VS England , i always havea tendency to side with losers better i should say i always have tendency to associate myself against the winners........and i seriously wanted to see Australia losing ashes, but the moment i went there England needed around 30 runs an had 5 wickets in hand but then they lost three quick wickets in the span of few runs and i waled off from the place as i felt my leaing will see England win the match and the same happened..........
today i have along day and its so busy that again i have to waste my whole day on these damm projects, i dont know when i complete them but this time i feel iam puttiing more effort on these projects than what i generally used to..........

22 extra classes ina single week ....oh my god, i cant believe that without missing a single class, i attended 16 of them and now 6 mroe to go...........apart from these 2 quizzes, 6 cases to be read and analysed( OK, i will be truth ful here i must have read properly 3cases and analysed only 1 case) , assignments, 4 projects to be completed ......... Now iam understanding why they say MBA is very taxing........ But actually the real problem is seeing those Finance guyz with very less workload......u cant feel the heat unless u dont know what coldness is, similarly we are able to feel the heat of work seeing others without any work.....
This is never ending debate on any B-school campus " who puts in most effort - Finance students or Marketing students" ...this time here in XIMB, somehow Marketing studets are winning this debate because of their very tight schedule and project submissions...
But nothing can beat Term-1...The unexpected Govinda's quizzes.. But the real fun was Assignments of The famous G.K.Nayak, the early morning deadlines that he used to give, and the relief that you get once you upload your assignment on the net.... This created strong bonds in the group members because of the fight we had to put in to complete those confusing assignments and the sense of resposibility one gets by sharing the work and doing, that gave the real show of whats going to come in the life of a MBA Grad....
Down the lane i would definitely miss Xavier Institue Of Management( XIMB ) and particularly the night life here, where will you see that tommorow morning at 9.00 Am we have a class and at the same day at morning 5.00 Am we will be having heated discussions over coffee in front of the mess( one of my favourite location in campus)..........
Now its going to be 5.00 Am again and have a classes from 9.00 Am to 9.30 Pm tommorow and another presentation to be completed ...........

PG meet and other activities

Today has been the most happy day for me after 3 weeks..............i think i totally came out of my deviations that were concerning me lately..........
Had again went to CCD twice.....Now i seriously feel CCD should give some sort of concession to me, had been going to CCD more than once a day.............
Evening, attended PG meet at CCD near ram mandir, reached the place by 5.40 Pm but guys are so punctual they started coming at around 7.00 Pm and say that they didn't expect us to be so punctual and they had been following IST( Indian standard Time), from XIMB we were 4 guyz there...myself, maloy,preeti, and a Pgp-1 guy........and 5 others, Subashni, Aryan, prateek, Pooza, and pooza's cousin...............it was rally good to meet new people, to know how they think, to know what they think..........
while driving back from the meet, i dont know why but for the first time i enjoyed rain...... it was a light drizzle wit cool breeze blowing along, this almost transformed me and had brought a remarkable change in the way i was thinking, and almost taught me a lesson that there are more to life than regular tensions.................
As soon i came back, went again on drive with nivi.........the weather was same and the enjoyment same................
Then completed the Prod Management brief with great difficulty and again went on drive with saby......it wasa long drive and the weather was cool with same breeze but sans drizzle......

There a JLT (JLT means Just Like That- they are the college disco nights where u have loud music and lots of Booze, these generally take place in front of our mess and generally run upto 4.00 AM ) in the campus tonight..............iam really not interested in today's JLT, the reason can be like , i dont enjoy dancing in JLT's what i like the most is the Booze, but as i haev promised my close friend manav that i wont be drinking for a month so didnot go near the JLT itself....then aparna called me and said that she wanted to discuss something very important ..... Everyone thinks she is a kid ut i feel she's not a kid but really a matured girl , who can think that othres are thinking and what things are mattering people most...............Spoke to her for 2 hours and it was very relaxing, spoke a lot of whats happening around and almost discussed abt hell lot of things..............

Now have to stop this here and continue with my PROF assignment.......this one iam rally not interested to do but alas what can we do , it is the deadline day and we have to submit it at any cost...........

why people get disappointed ??

I feel that the biggest reason why people getting disappointed is because of expectations. We expect something, but something else happens . Analogy between gaps in marketing can be drawn here, people expect something from a product but the product delivers something else, and here marketing people come into picture they try hard to plug in these gaps.....but in real life is it possible???? is it possible to raise the performance of others ?? I feel its not possible, because what other person wants to do, is not in our hands. So the best thing that one can do is reduce the expectations to the level of delivery , this would obviously deliver us the satisfaction that we want and there wouldn't be any chance of getting disappointment....

The day went same as it had been from past few days...............i woke up( with a bit of hangover of previous nights drinks) and thought to study like anything...but i dont now what i did, didnot study even a single page/slide and went to give exam,but i dont think i did so bad.............then came my BP results iam in the lower quartile of the class...........and then lost my Fav Timex watch somewhere.......Lately iam into losing things that i like most ......and somehow i dont feel bad also becos iam used to this..........

There is a brighter side to the day also.............i have infact come out of my slumber and started doing something worthwhile ........ went to Library for an hour or so , read few pages of Rural management book( My friends say iam reading this book to impress upon a Rural management girl with whom they are teasing me)........started doing Product Management Research brief, atleast divided the work in the group...............

Should see how next few days of mine will be...hope that they become better, even if they dont i cant do anything ............

Went to Bank(SBI) and then to CCD with nivi...........after that came back to hostel and went to Shikarchandi with nauti,tyagi,mayank,kishore,jyoti,vireshwar, & jacob.....it was a real nice plaec on top of a hill from where u can have view of the whole new Bhubaneswar..............
I the evening went out for dinner to Barista, with Manav,Preeti,Shiv, & maloy................Barista has a food section also called Silver streak , the place is very good with really tasty food .................
In night had few drinks with manav, but i aws alone who was drinking.....................decided that this should be my last drinks for atleast a month......should see whether i will stick to it or not...........

This was the day.................what a nice way to waste whole day when u have loads of work to do......... By 30th we have to submit " Product management " Research brief and on 30/07 we have a SM quiz........ but thats life here enjoy only when u get chance becos anyhow u have to sweat here............so dont worry abt coming up submissions........
